Brachy & Exotic Pets

Surgery for Brachycephalic Dogs and Exotic Cats

Brachycephalic pets, commonly known as “flat-faced” breeds, and exotic cats have unique anatomical and medical needs that require specialized surgical care. Breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs, Persian cats, and Sphinxes, as well as other short-nosed pets, are more prone to breathing difficulties, airway complications, and sensitivity to anesthesia due to the structure of their skulls and airways.

At Paws for a Cause Vet Care, our team understands the added risks these pets can face and takes extra precautions before, during, and after surgery to provide safe, compassionate, and individualized care.

Dogs

  • Male Neuter $400+

    Includes $200 fee

  • Bloodwork $85+

Due to their unique anatomy, these dogs require an additional $200 fee already reflected in the price above for spay and neuter procedures.

These dogs will also require a pre-surgical exam that is $55 and includes a thorough head-to-tail evaluation. In addition, there will be an $85+ charge for bloodwork. This visit allows our veterinarians to assess your pet’s overall health, review breed-specific risks, and discuss anesthesia and surgical planning to ensure a safe procedure.

On the day of your dog’s pre-surgical exam you will be quoted for take-home medications.

There is no additional fee for spay or neuter appointments for exotic breeds such as Scottish Folds, Sphinxes, Bombays, Bengals, and more.

The starting price remains the same at female and male spays and neuters start at $125.

To ensure your cat’s safety, an IV catheter is required on the day of surgery, and a pre-surgical exam must be completed beforehand. The pre-surgical exam is $55 and includes a thorough head-to-tail evaluation.

Additionally, we require a $50 in-clinic SNAP Feline proBNP Test, which assesses your cat’s heart health by detecting if the heart is under stress, ensuring your exotic cat is ready for a safe spay or neuter.
