Will County Animal Protection Services’ Helping Owners & Pets Equitably (HOPE) Program
Pet owners are required to:
- Provide WCAPS proof of residency and a LINK card or SSDI in order to qualify.
- Provide WCAPS proof of current rabies vaccine for dogs and cats 4 months of age or older in order to qualify
- Make an appointment with one of our HOPE program vet partners (and state at the time of the appointment that they are participating in the HOPE program) to schedule the spay/neuter surgery.
- Pay the HOPE program vet partner directly for any services requested outside what the program includes.
The program will include preanesthetic bloodwork, monitoring of anesthesia and the pet’s vitals during surgery, pain medication and dissolvable sutures for all spays or neuters.
The client is financially responsible for any additional medications, vaccines, and services provided directly by the vet hospital.
*Pregnant or nursing animals do not qualify for this program.
Notice about brachycephalic dogs and exotic cats:
Some pets, including brachycephalic dogs and exotic cats, require additional pre-surgical evaluations and specialized care based on their breed or medical needs. Brachycephalic pets are required to complete a pre-surgical examination prior to their scheduled surgery date. This examination is conducted at a separate appointment and does not take place on the day of surgery.
Exotic cats do not need to come in for a pre-surgical examination prior to the surgery.
The client is financially responsible for any additional examinations, medications, diagnostics, vaccines, or services provided directly by the veterinary hospital, including those required for brachycephalic dogs and exotic cats.
